Our family is blessed to live about 30 minutes from the North Coast in Falmouth. The children and I are always excited to see the beach. Unfortunately, though, Dad isn’t much a beach lover as he is a man for rivers.
So, the children and I have a getaway that we use to get to the beach anyhow.
We use the local library in Falmouth!
It so happens that our local library is right across the road from the local fishing beach. We have come to realise that when we plan to get or return books, we can also (conveniently) pack some towels.

The children always have fun at the library in and of itself: they get excited when browsing the shelves to pick out a new book to take home.
They also have loads of fun outside the library digging around the sandy ground for crabs.
However, the short trek to go over to the beach is the ultimate fun ending to an already enjoyable outing. That’s where they play in the sand, hunt for seashells, dig for more crabs, and yes, swim in the water.
When it’s time to go home, we fill some bottles with fresh water at the pipe over at the fishing village. That’s what I use to wash off the children so they can be clean enough to get dressed and be picked up by our driver.
A thorough cleaning is always reserved for when we go back home.
